WhatsApp Stories is a series of films highlighting user stories from everywhere around the world. They were looking for a branding for the series that connected to WhatsApp, but that wasn't too obtrusive to the cinematic quality of the films. Therefore, I developed a sub branding that played at the end of each episode. There is no branding anywhere in the film except for subtly at the end so that these stories exist as stories, not as marketing assets.
Since this series is global, we thought it important to always show the branding in that respective country's language. We developed a system where the language is written out in a handwriting that brings more humanity to the brand, and then transitions to the ending main logo.
The first film follows the important work of World Central Kitchen, and organization that uses WhatsApp to organize food delivery to Ukrainian refugees in need during the current Russian invasion in Ukraine.
The film was posted by Will Cathcart, the Head of WhatsApp, getting 26k views on Twitter. You can view the tweet and film here.
